Bus networks
In a A network topology where all the nodes are connected to a central cable called a bus.A group of interconnected computers/devices. all the Any device connected to a network. are joined to one cable - the bus. At each end of the cable, a terminator is fitted to stop signals reflecting back down the bus.
Advantages and disadvantages of using a bus topology
The advantages of a bus The structure, or arrangement, of a network. are:
- it is easy to install extra network devices
- it is cheap to install as it doesn't require much cable
The disadvantages of a bus topology are:
- if the main cable fails or gets damaged, the whole network will fail
- as more nodes are connected, the performance of the network will become slower because of When more than one message tries to go along the same channel at the same time, and the message is corrupted.
- every node on the network receives all of the Units of information. In computing there can be different data types, including integers, characters and Boolean. Data is often acted on by instructions. sent on the network - this is a security risk
