A theme is an idea that you will explore in your work. It could be inspired by :

  • an activity you enjoy
  • a social issue you are interested in
  • a particular emotion
  • people or places
  • cultural influences like films, books, games, music and lyrics
  • a word or phrase

Creating a spidergram is a good way to explore ideas for a theme. The following example shows how you could explore a word as a theme.

'Wrapped' theme spidergram. Bandages - someone wounded, Portraits with bandages, Presents, Wrapped up warm, Packaging, Wrapped string and wool
