Development plans

When developing personal effectiveness you will be expected to:

  • identify current personal and/or team working skills relevant to your project or challenge
  • identify any additional personal and/or team working skills likely to be needed
  • plan for developing and improving skills

Skills audit

A skills audit can be used to assess the level of expertise across a range of skills. It is important to analyse a skills audit once it has been completed. This is because a skills audit identifies which skills need to be developed.

You should think about what skills are needed to undertake your community activity, which will be one of the following:

  • a social/welfare opportunity
  • a neighbourhood enhancement opportunity
  • a coaching opportunity

A skills audit should note the following points:

  • type of skill (ie people skills or personal skills)
  • skills required
  • a skill you currently don’t have
  • a skill you have used in the past, but you’re not an expert in using
  • a skill that you use regularly and feel confident using
Table to identify the types of skills and the skills required. Ticks indicate if it's a skill I currenty do not have; if I've used but not an expert on it; or that I use regularly with confidence.
