Week 1
The summer holidays are a great time to take part in fun activities.
However, if you are not sure what to do this summer, don't worry, BBC Bitesize has lots of ideas to keep you busy and entertained.
This week there are loads of fun activities for you to enjoy including;
- use your imagination in a creative writing competition,
- head back in time with History Explorers,
- give your brain a work out with Gary Lineker and his football fractions.

Create: Crafting a sunflower
Sunflowers are a well-known summer symbol. They grow in the summer months in the UK and move in the direction of the Sun. In France, sunflowers are called tournesols, which means turns with the Sun.
Did you know?
Sunflower seeds are edible and have lots of health benefits. They can be enjoyed on salads and in cereals.
In many cultures they are a symbol of happiness and joy and they have inspired artists such as Van Gogh who painted them.
Activity
Draw or paint your own sunflower or try the below craft activity to make your own.

Stay active
It is important to stay active over the summer holidays. If you can, a visit to a local park is a great way to get some exercise.
Activity
Set yourself a course around your garden or a local park and see how fast you can complete it. You could do it on foot or even by bike!
However, if it is a wet and rainy day, here are some indoor active activities you can do too.

Go Explore: Wildlife
When the weather is nice, it is a great time to be outdoors where you can find lots of different animals.
Activity
How many different types of wildlife can you spot in your local area?
You don't need to be in the middle of the countryside to see animals going about their daily lives. You could be amazed at how much wildlife lives in all sorts of areas.
BBC Bitesize Parents' Toolkit met Springwatch's Megan McCubbin to get some tips for spotting UK wildlife this summer with your family.
Creative writing challenge

Write a short story. Be as imaginative and creative as you want!
The three main things to consider are; the setting, the characters and the plot.
For example, you might want to write a story about three aliens who crash land in a field of sunflowers and have to figure out their way home. The setting is the field of sunflowers, the characters are the aliens and the plot is how they work out how to return home.
Once you have written your story, you could even enter it into the BBC's 500 words competition.
