WHAT YOU NEED: squared paper, a pen, a ruler and a compass.

STEP 1 - DRAW SQUARE: Draw a square on squared paper.
Image caption,
STEP 2 - ANOTHER ON TOP: Draw another square on top.
Image caption,
STEP 3 - TURN AND REPEAT: Turn the paper anti-clockwise 90 degrees.

...then repeat step 2: draw another square on top, turn anti-clockwise 90° and keep repeating with the squares getting bigger and bigger until no more squares will fit on the paper.

STEP 4 - DRAW THE SPIRAL: Starting with the first square, draw a quarter circle inside it from corner to corner. Then do the same in the second square and so on, creating a growing spiral.

TIP: use a compass to draw neat quarter circles as the squares get larger.

Finally draw over the spiral with a coloured pen to make it stand out. You've done it!
