How one local cricket club is trying to save the planet

Part ofThe Regenerators

Cricket clubs can open a huge can of worms when it comes to their impact on the environment. Not only will car emissions from large numbers of fans travelling to matches increase the clubs’ carbon footprint but also trees may need to be chopped down to accommodate the pitches. This can throw off their carbon footprint balance, so what can they do to do their bit?

The Regenerators took a visit to Valley End Cricket Club in Surrey with Ben Cajee, who is a huge fan of cricket, to find out. Ben spoke to two of the clubs under 16s players: twins Ash and Kishoar. They are super players who are also super keen on their club’s pledge to be more sustainable, so what does the club get up to?
