|  | This year 325,000 women across the UK will raise £20 million in sponsorship for Cancer Research. In Cannon Hill Park on Wednesday 16 June, over 2600 women took part in Race For Life 2004. |

In the first race, 680 women ran, raising £36,000. Race for Life is now the UK's biggest fundraising event. So far, one million women, have raised £50 million for Cancer Research UK. Although the events are non-competitive, someone has to come over the finish line first - the 'winner' of the Cannon Hill Park race was Jane Groves. She ran the five kilometres in around 18 minutes. She is running in several Race For Life events around Britain. Photo & audio gallery
