Carnival Queen 2005 - Shantel Ogarro

Carnival returned to Birmingham on Sunday 7th August 2005, when hundreds of dancers took to the streets in a vibrant procession of dazzling costumes.

Thousands of spectators lined the streets from Oxhill Road in Handsworth, along the carnival route, all the way to Perry Park.

The big highlight of the day was a stunning mardi-gras style procession of dancers, all in fabulous costumes, led by the new Carnival Queen.

Each dance troop wore different themed costumes made from sequins, feathers and beads, dancing alongside floats with DJ's playing party calypso beats, and groups playing live steel pans.

Party, party, party

The carnival party continued in Perry Park. where people enjoyed a vibrant mix of entertainment, along with stalls selling tasty Caribbean food and crafts.

Birmingham Carnival brought all the city's communities together in a true Caribbean spirit.

i thought the carnival was live still! i took part and thats my pic just above! i know i was tired at da end of it all, but it was worth it!
