The BBC Trust has published the details of its funding agreement with Comux UK Limited ("Comux") for the rollout of local television across the UK.

As part of the licence fee settlement agreed in 2011 the BBC agreed to help with the Government's aim of establishing a Local TV network by making up to £25 million of licence fee money available to the holder of the Local TV multiplex licence to build the local TV multiplex and infrastructure.

Comux was awarded the Local TV multiplex licence by Ofcom for the rollout of local television across the UK .

The document published today sets out the agreement between the BBC Trust and Comux and reflects the Trust's funding arrangements document published in May 2012 (PDF file) and the requirements of the European Commission's decision to grant State aid approval (PDF file) to the UK Government. The agreement sets out the obligations on both parties related to the disbursement of licence fee funds to pay for the initial capital set up costs for Local TV.

The BBC Executive's separate arrangements for purchasing news content from the Local TV licensees can be read here (PDF file).

The BBC Trust has published the final details of its funding contribution for the rollout of local digital television across the UK.

As part of the current licence fee settlement the BBC agreed to help with the Government's aim of establishing a local TV network by making up to £25 million available for the successful bidder to build the network.

The document published today sets out the BBC's approach to this funding commitment and the criteria that any potential bidder will need to meet to secure the contribution. A draft version of this was published on 24 February.

Alongside this, the BBC Executive has published its arrangements for purchasing content from the successful bidder and these can be read here.

Separately, Ofcom has today published the results of its public consultation on local TV and is now inviting bids for the local TV licence from interested parties. These documents from Ofcom can be accessed here.
