Party Election Broadcasts in 2016

Background

The Trust ran a consultation from 15 October 2015 to 7 January 2016 regarding the draft allocation criteria for Party Election Broadcasts.

The allocation criteria have been developed by the BBC Executive and will be used to identify those parties eligible for one or more broadcasts on BBC services in advance of the elections being held on 5 May 2016 for:

  •  In Scotland – Scottish Parliament
  •  In Wales – National Assembly for Wales
  •  In Northern Ireland – Northern Ireland Assembly
  •  In England (outside London) – Local government
  •  In London – Greater London Authority including the Mayor of London

The Trust’s decision

The Trust has approved the allocation criteria. The Trust has also published a consultation statement document which summarises the consultation responses received regarding the proposed allocation criteria, with the Trust’s decision on those issues raised.
