England fan scores goal with paper plane, crowd go wild

Amongst the labour and the torpor of last night’s snoozefest - sorry, showdown - between England and Slovenia, there was one moment of sheer brilliance, of unparalleled skill – a moment that showed what the human form can achieve in its peak…
A fan managed to throw a paper plane all the way from his/her seat in what looked like the upper tiers, past Joe Hart and into the net…

Tough for Joe Hart to concede like that - although he recouped some dignity late on in the game with a quite brilliant double save to keep his (official) clean sheet intact.
But pretty much everyone made the same observation about the significance of this moment…

This is, of course, not the first time that the England paper-plane massive have stolen the spotlight.
Remember England v Peru in 2014, when a fan managed to hit a player with this long-range effort?
In that instance, the unfortunate target was Peruvian defender Hansell Riojas. Thankfully, he was unharmed, and, just to be clear, we in no way endorse that kind of targeting of individuals or throwing of objects onto the pitch. Not cool.
However, clearly this is a thing now, as En-ger-land fans find joy elsewhere as the team regularly fail to offer anything as thrilling on the Wembley pitch these days.
Perhaps the Three Lions will be so good to watch in Russia next summer, no one will need to create their own mid-match entertainment?
Given their recent history, maybe not.
