How do I register for Multi Factor Authentication?

If you already use an Authenticator app, please visit MyPay and login as usual.  You will then be routed through the MFA registration screens.

If you would like to find out more information or you haven’t used an Authenticator app before, refer to this guide on setting up multi factor authentication to access MyPay.

If you see an error message when you access MyPay, you may need to clear your browser cache. Guidance on how to clear your browser cache is available on Gateway.

What is it?

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) is a way to prove you are who you say you are when accessing a service online.  A lot of colleagues may already use an Authenticator app to access other services such as banking.  In addition to needing your username and password, MFA requires an extra security step and your app will generate a single use code on your registered device that is used to confirm it’s you logging in online.

When do I need to start using it?

From 27 June 2023, all BBC colleagues, including Freelancers, and leavers who access their Pay documents via MyPay will have to register for Multi Factor Authentication.

Why?

We understand that everyone is feeling concerned about the security of their personal data, and we want to do all we can to give you peace of mind about access to your payslips, which is why we are going live with Multi Factor Authentication now.
