He’s generous and kind and good and he’s always been like a father figure to Sean. But Pete has a quick temper too, and, like Mary his mother, he’s not afraid of telling people the truth.STAR SIGN : Libra Pete
"Course I was gutted - boxing was the only thing I was ever any good at. School wasn't really my strong point - left at 16, and not a minute too soon as far as I was concerned. Actually, it was Uncle Brian that got me into boxing at first. Don't think he knew what to do with me to tell the truth. Probably hoped I'd get some sense knocked into me - then he wouldn't have to keep turning up all the time just to bail me out of trouble! Mind you, he's not so squeaky clean himself either; I mean you should've seen how he used to smooth talk people to get me off the hook. Never had a problem getting the ladies old Brian.
"Anyway, as I was saying, I was gutted that I never made it professional in the ring. Got half-way there I suppose, which is better than most, but I still sometimes find myself thinking of the might-have-beens. Running the gym was a good second best - it's great to watch the transformation that happens in some of the kids - from drippy, weedy teenagers to smart talkin', smart walkin' men! Watchin' one of my lads up in the ring - you just can't beat that feeling, knowing it's you that's got them there.Siobhan's missed out on all that with Sean - mind you she never did know what was good for her, used to drive me up the wall. Let's just say we weren't the closest of brothers and sisters. I'm glad she's back in my life at last though, it's good to see how settled she is and she's making a real effort with Sean but I think it might be a bit late to come the doting mum! Losing the gym was just awful. I really felt I'd let mum down no matter what she says. But the business with Jai was the last straw. It was time for a fresh start and the job in Cornwall just came at the perfect time. I love it down here, sun, sea, sand and surf. What more could a guy want!"
