Garbas are a great time for friends and family to get together. Unfortunately here in California garbas are not as great as what I grew up with in Zambia. We get huge crowds with great musicians, however that cozy atmosphere of a Zambian community is missing. Garbas always remind me of all the good times (and mischief!) I had with my friends in Zambia. I still enjoy Navaratri and look forward to it every year!! 9 days of great music and dancing...it's one of the best, most colourful and lively festivals!!!

Navratri is a festival celebrating the triumph of good over evil, remembering the godess maa shakti. it is a time for people to consider our relationship with the divine. Engaging in garba and raas is not just enjoying oneself, but also having a spiritual focus for the young and old.

Navratri is a big, spiritual highlight of the year for me. When everyone dances round the Garbi (shrine of Goddess)like little children around their mother, it feels like thousand of lights encircling the Great Power (Shakti) that makes the world go round!

Navratri is very special because here in London we ususally don't get a chance to wear a saree every day so on this speacial occasion nearly all the young and old have an excuse for dressig up, with lots of lipstick, make up and bangles, and nothing has to be exacly matching with the colour of the saree. it's also very very speacial for youg kids as they get a chance to dance and run around and eat lots of lovely food and be able to stay awake till late at night. Navratri remids young and old about their own Hindu religion and culture. Navratri also helps YOUNG AND OLD to find life partner (LOVER)

This is a wonderfull Hindu festivial, which allows us all to practically take part in this form of worship. its great to see people from the hindu community taking part, dancing to the devotional melodies and becomming wrapped up in the joy it brings.... Jai Ambe

Navratri holds very special memories for me since childhood my parents took me and I enjoyed every moment of it then and still do today. Navratri in the UK is much better then here in California it's so small and I feel it's much more traditional back in the UK with the music, garba moves and clothes we wear. Navratri is all about Mataji, Clothes, Music and Community to me and marks the arrival of Diwali around the corner. I wish I was doing Navratri in the UK.

Navratri Garba these days is more colourful and fun unlike in the past when strict rules were followed and no new ideas

i think navratri is a great time for family and friends to get together.. and also make new friends. its amazing to see how many hindus go to garba and all the colours and the place is just filled with bubbliness! the atmosphere is unbelieveable and for me i think its great to see everyone having fun and smiling, leaving all their troubles behind! i go every year with my family and we have such a good time! Its so cool to be wearing all indian clothes again for nine days because i dont have a chance to in my normal routine!! its just amazing :D

Celebrating Navrati is better in London than here in South Texas. Its a time of year where the young feel old and the old feel young. Its a festival of joy and respect to our religion. I wish i was back in London.
Dev Chandra, Canada
I just love the dance, clothes they wear and the most of the songs get you into the dance. I wished I could go back to India and see Naratri in Rajasthan

When you think about navratri the first name that comes in your lips is VADODARA city.life without garba is unthinkable especially when you are from VADODARA where you can see finest garba and that is VADODARA known for.Doin Garba till early hours, wearing traditional dress, having nice time with friends especially with girls who too are free to stay out of home till early hours of the morning. It is my first year where am not in india for navratri.I really miss those nostalgic navratri days.

Navratri has gone wrong in the UK as the youth dont go to celebrate Mataji's festival but look to trouble make!!!!!!!
