Mona has become the definitive diva of British Asian music and one of its most sought-after young artists. The only child of bhangra legend Channi Singh, of Alaap fame, Mona spent most of her youth at her Father's gigs. Vocally trained by him she appeared as a backing vocalist on many of his albums. His influence and traditional style are reflected in the style of her own music.

Her first album Akhiyan Vich Yaar Vasda (The Beginning) was released in 2000 and featured the successful 'Ve Mundeya'. She followed this up with the 2003 hit album The Second Chapter.

More recently Mona appeared on Top of the Pops in December 2003 with Basement Jaxx. She features on their song 'Lucky Star' alongside Mercury Prize Winner, Dizzee Rascal.
