Tomorrow's World - 3 March 1983
In this edition, Judith Hann investigates the properties of melatonin as a cure for jet-lag, there's a demonstration of the latest preservation techniques for antique books and Kieran Prendiville attempts to set fire to £500. Items on holograms, vibrating watches for deaf people and a trailer that doubles as a boat are also included in the show. Minor edits have been made to this programme for copyright reasons.
Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland during the hours of darkness that has a powerful effect in regulating the body's circadian rhythms, or patterns of sleep and wakefulness.
