The Great Egg Race

From 1979 to 1986, science-based show 'The Great Egg Race' introduced BBC Two viewers to teams of inventors who took on the challenge of building gadgets using limited resources and their own ingenuity. Initially focused on creating rubber-band powered devices to carry eggs the furthest possible distance, the series also made a household name of scientist Professor Heinz Wolff.

In this collection, we look back at some of those inventions with a selection of programmes from throughout the show's run.
