The Gathering

This programme was filmed at the first world gathering in Israel of Jewish Holocaust survivors, where people met to try to find lost family members and friends. We hear from several individuals who tell their own stories of terrible suffering, loss and the sometimes extraordinary will to survive.

The gathering in 1981 was attended by 10,000 people. It was followed by one in Washington two years later that drew 20,000 attendees. A worldwide register was set up at the Washington conference that contains more than 200,000 names.
