The Book Programme - Ian McEwan

Shortly after the publication of his first novel, 'The Cement Garden', Ian McEwan discusses how his work is changing as he moves from writing short stories to longer narratives. Christopher Ricks questions McEwan on his use of adolescent characters and his reaction to his writing being labelled as 'shocking' in this thoughtful and revealing interview.

As of 2019, Ian McEwan has been nominated for the Booker Prize six times. He won in 1998 with 'Amsterdam'.
