Stanley Donen

In this unedited recording, the great Hollywood director Stanley Donen recalls the films he made with Fred Astaire. Donen remembers the technical trickery that was needed to create Astaire's famous 'dancing on the ceiling' number in 'Royal Wedding' (1951) and also the chemistry between Astaire and Audrey Hepburn that made 'Funny Face' (1957) so popular.

This unedited interview is presented as it was originally recorded. Therefore, there are changes in the sound levels and there may be some interruptions and interference from background noise.

Parts of this interview were used in various documentaries. Stanley Donen was also the director on 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' (1954), which was nominated for five Oscars and, alongside Gene Kelly, 'Singin' in the Rain'.

Recorded circa 1974.
