Britain's Teenagers, 1955
Out of the post-war years of austerity, the 1950s saw the birth of the teenager, and the BBC’s Special Enquiry was on hand to investigate the hopes and dreams of these strange new creatures.
This collection charts the changing expectations of young people from very different backgrounds across three decades.
Ten Years After
A decade on, Denis Mitchell revisits the young people he first filmed for Special Enquiry.
Festival 77
To mark the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II, the BBC's Festival 77 series rebroadcast twenty-five programmes from the BBC archive, one for each year of the Queen's reign. Ten Years After was chosen as the offering for 1964.
The screening was followed by a studio discussion, chaired by Rene Cutforth and featuring Diane, Pat and Philip.
Did their lives measure up to the aspirations of their teenage selves?
