News Extra - British Shipbuilding

Britain was once responsible for most of the world's shipping but by 1961, the beginning of the end was already in sight. In this film, Bertram Mycock speaks to the men affected by changes brought about by new technology and new business practices. One man claims it's a young mans business, but how do the teenagers entering the industry view their own prospects?

The shipyards shown in this film were responsible for some of the world's biggest ships, including the 'Lusitania', the 'Queen Mary' and the 'Queen Elizabeth'.
