Millions rock to Live8 message, 2005

The world's biggest music stars performed at Live8 concerts in July 2005, in an attempt to persuade world leaders to tackle poverty in Africa.

Concerts were staged in 10 cities, including London, Philadelphia, Paris, Berlin, Johannesburg, Rome and Moscow.

The shows were intended to draw attention to the summit of G8 leaders meeting to discuss global poverty at Gleneagles in Scotland, the following week.
