Hot Air!
Take a flight in a hot-air balloon and discover Wiltshire's prehistoric past. Presenter Anthony Smith is accompanied by an archaeologist to discuss the lie of the land passing slowly beneath them. This is a gentle sojourn over thousands of years of history and reiterates the importance of aerial surveys in revealing it.
Former 'Tomorrow's World' presenter Anthony Smith had a long-held fascination for aeronautics and adventure. In 1964 he was filmed by the BBC flying his balloon (named Jambo) over the Alps, becoming the first Briton to do so. He presented BBC radio programmes on the Great Rift Valley in Africa, Roman roads in Britain, and Marco Polo. He was been the pioneer of many other adventures and the author of several books including 'The Body' (1968), later televised by the BBC as 'The Human Body'.
