Gridlock: Bank Holiday Hell
As one of Britain's most congested stretches of motorway grinds to a halt during an Easter weekend getaway, some of the most common phenomena associated with holiday gridlock are explored, from the jams which seem to occur without reason, to the effects of 'rubbernecking' on traffic flow. There's also a look at the best time to set off in order to make that journey as stress free as possible.
The network of motorways featured in the programme are some of the most congested in Europe and are known as the 'Birmingham Box' comprising the M5, M6 and M42. Conrad King, who also appears, is one of the UK's highest profile motoring psychologists, and his innovative research into 'road rage', car colour and personality, and music and driving have provided a fresh perspective on the mind of the modern motorist.
