BBC Philharmonic binaural recordings
Binaural sound gives headphone listeners a realistic impression of 3D space. Sounds can come from all around you, including above and below, giving a greater feeling of immersion.
These 3D recordings have a beautiful, spacious effect that can help take you to another space: to the drama of the concert hall, or your own space when trying to focus, wind down, or drift off to sleep.
The BBC Philharmonic partnered with BBC Research and Development to produce binaural recordings of concerts at the Bridgewater Hall and at the BBC Proms.
You’ll need to wear headphones to experience this immersive 3D sound, so pop them on, and close your eyes.
