Dr Edith Summerskill on benefits of NHS
Dr Edith Summerskill, parliamentary secretary for the Ministry of Food, outlines some of the benefits of the new National Health Service. Her broadcast includes comparisons to the cost of food in the UK in 1921 and explains how the government's investment in food production should mean a better standard of living for all. Though Dr Summerskill concedes there are still issues to be ironed out, she urges Britain to make "a nation founded upon good neighbours".
