جهاز أشعة جديد في المطارات يكشف الجسد

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

Today Liliane and Anna talk about new security equipment that will be introduced to airports around the UK.

Body scanners are like x-ray machines that show security officials in airports everything that is underneath a passengers clothes.

They have been trialled at a number of airports around the world and now, after trialling the machines in Manchester Airport, the Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that the machines will be introduced to UK ariports.

Even though the machines are meant to help fight terrorism, Ben Wallace, a man who used to work at the company that makes these machines said that they were not a big silver bullet.

He feels that they should only be a part of the fight against terrorism.

Simon Davies from the Human Rights Watchdog Privacy International also has some doubts about the machine.

He told the BBC that it would be more effective to use old fashioned methods such as screening and vehicle checks.

The machines cost £80'000 and will be used along with metal detectors on travellers travelling in and out of the UK.

What do you think of these machines? Will they help fight terrorism? Write to us in English!
