On BBCe! we're looking at the colours of the British and the Egyptian flags اعلام.

This week it's the colour white.

People associate مرتبطة the colour white with different things - peace سلام and calm السكينة. A white flag can also mean surrender استسلام.

White is also the colour of purity نقاء and innocence البراءة.

But be careful when you hear the phrase 'whiter than white', it doesn’t always mean what it seems!

The word 'white' starts with W and H, and some speakers still pronounce it this way, with a sort of breathy W. But most of us just say 'wite'.

There are a lot of words in English, which start with W.H.
