Today Doug and…are talking about how drivers can become easily distracted by gadgets in their cars.

The Royal Automobile Club (RAC) surveyed over 1,100 drivers. It found that 39% of these drivers had been seriously distracted by changing compact discs, using satellite navigation systems and mobile phones.

The survey found that the most serious distraction for drivers was listening to music. It came top of the list.

Younger drivers between the ages of 17 and 24 were most likely to lose concentration while driving.

The RAC advises motorists to set up all of their gadgets before setting off. It also wants to widen the focus of safety campaigns to avoid unnecessary accidents.
