سرب من النحل يلدغ 14 شخصاً في تركيا

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

Today Abdu and Louay talk about a swarm of bees that has left 14 people in hospital.

A van carrying beehives crashed into a lorry that was carrying workers in Maramaris, a city in the South of Turkey.

As soon as the bees had left the van, they began attacking rescue workers and people at the scene of the accident.

Whilst only six people were injured in the crash itself, 14 people were taken to hospital to be treated for the stings they received from the angry bees.

The BBC's Jonathan Head said that emergency services were not welcomed by all of the victims!

Because the emergency services did not have appropriate protective clothing, many of them got hurt.

They were not trained to deal with bees either, and so they had to call dozens of beekeepers to help them with the crash.

This accident happened in a region of Turkey that is famous for its honey.

Turkey itself has 4.5 million bee colonies and produces a lot of honey that is sold all over the world.
