
Roles and responsibilities
- Wendy leads the HR function for the BBC and job shares with Rachel Currie. Together with Rachel, they are responsible for the design and implementation of the BBC's HR strategy to ensure that the BBC has the right people in the right roles, performing at their best.
- Alongside this they also lead a team responsible for the delivery of a full range of HR functions, including internal communications and engagement, recruitment, employee relations, remuneration and benefits, leadership development, organisation design and change management, diversity & inclusion and HR administration and policy.

Wendy has nearly 30 years operational HR experience. She has been HR Director N&R for three years. Prior to that, she was Head of HR & Development for BBC Scotland and previously worked in BBC HR in London for a number of Divisions, including BBC News, Television and BBC Production.
Her earlier career started at the the Department of Employment as a Graduate Management Trainee. She did a range of jobs including Manager of an Unemployment Benefits office in Newcastle, Training Consultant for Tyne and Wear Development Corporation, and Deputy Director of a European Union Information Office, before joining the BBC in 1991 as HR Manager for Yorkshire/Humberside region, based in Leeds.
Wendy graduated from Durham University, has an MBA and is a trained executive coach for the BBC.
