Roles and responsibilities
- Alice is responsible for the creative and strategic direction of the BBC's Children's services - including being responsible for the UK's two most popular networks for youngest audiences, CBeebies and CBBC.
- With over 8,000 hours of children's content each year, together with iPlayer, apps, interactive and multimedia content the BBC's children's services reach 69% of UK children under the age of 12 each month.

Alice took up her role as Director, BBC Children’s in March 2015 after a decade at the BBC.
The BBC is the leading public service broadcaster for children in the world and is also the biggest investor in British-made children’s content. Among its top shows are the Bafta award-winning Katie Morag; The Dumping Ground; Justin's House; Wolfblood; Blue Peter; Newsround; Mr Bloom's Nursery; The Furchester Hotel and Horrible Histories. Based in Salford since 2011, BBC Children's commissions programmes from independent producers and in-house departments. There is also a strong Children's base at BBC Scotland in Glasgow and the Natural History Unit in Bristol.
Formerly Chief Operating Officer (COO), BBC England, Alice was responsible for overseeing all aspects of technology, people, workspace, migration and ways of working across the BBC sites in Salford, Bristol and Birmingham.
Prior to her England wide role, Alice was Chief Operating Officer for BBC North (July 2011 to May 2014) and orchestrated the successful move of key BBC departments including Sport, BBC Children's, 5 live and BBC Learning to Salford, in the biggest BBC move outside London in its history.
She was a driving force in reinventing the BBC for the internet age, helping establish a new collaborative culture that has helped make BBC North the thriving creative centre it is today.
Over 39,000 hours of output a year across TV, Radio and the Red Button are now made in the North, with more than 3,000 staff now at MediaCityUK, Salford making it the BBC’s key digital centre outside of London.
Before joining the BBC Alice was at PA Consulting Group for five years where she worked with organisations including Orange, The Cabinet Office, Reuters and Deutsche Bank.
Alice’s first career was as a chartered civil engineer working on water, wastewater and tunnelling projects in the UK and overseas.
Alice is a Trustee of the Greater Manchester Art Centre (Home) and is a member of the Greater Manchester Business Leadership Council.
