Who are the Queens of Noize?Mairead and Tabitha have been wreaking deck-wrecking vengeance on an unsuspecting public since 2002. Champions of the never-mind-the-gaps school of DJing, their uniquely chaotic delivery and eye-catching pants have assured their regal status amongst the current school of Rock & Roll DJs. It was a partnership born out of a damp basement in Dalston, cheap Vodka and a shared inability not to jump off the closest piece of furniture when in earshot of a good record. The girls cut their teeth playing shambolic weekly 5 hour sets in Shoreditch's 333 club where coincidentally Mairead booked the DJs. Soon new challenges beckoned in the shape of Friday nights at Camden's Barfly. Taking over what had become a lacklustre institution, they double-handedly spearheaded a rock renaissance. The Queen's infectious enthusiasm has caused their services to be enlisted for high profile events from The Maldives to Benecaseam, not mention rallying crowds on various cross-country jaunts with the likes of The Liars, Club NME and most surreally Pink. At home the girls stage countless events with one of London’s most eclectic guest lists and most recently they have provided the musical soundtrack for Kate Moss’ new range for Top Shop Always keen to take on new challenges the girls now present their own Saturday afternoon show THE SONIC SAFARI on BBC6 music.
