Police have launched an appeal to find a man who was last seen on a Christmas outing in Cardiff city centre.

Richard Davies, 39, from Blaenavon, has not returned home since he became separated from friends shortly before 2300 GMT last Friday.

Meanwhile, South Wales Police are investigating reports that a man was seen in the River Taff near the Millennium Stadium at around the same time.

Detectives are not linking the two cases but have not yet ruled out the possibility that they may be related.

The family of father-of-two Mr Davies say his disappearance is out of character and they are worried about his safety.

His wife Michelle, and children, Justin, 13, and Charlotte, 10, are left at home waiting for news about him.

Gwent Police, which is investigating Mr Davies' disappearance, said he left home at 0900 GMT last Friday morning for the trip with a group of friends.

The pals first went go-karting in Newport at midday then caught the 1600 GMT train to Cardiff where they drank at a number of city centre bars and pubs until around 2300 GMT.

Missing

Officers said there was no disagreement among the group and that Mr Davies was not seen to have left with anyone else.

He was last seen at a bar called Reflex in St Mary St.

He was wearing navy trousers and a light blue shirt during the time he went missing.

Mr Davies is described as being 5ft 11 inches tall, of medium build and has brown hair.
