Food lovers from throughout the country have converged on Denbighshire for the fifth Celtic Cuisine Food Festival.

The Llangollen event is seen as a platform to advertise produce from across Wales.

The festival has now grown to such an extent that almost every available space within the town's International Pavilion was taken up.

Organiser Catrin Jones, from Cadwyn Clwyd Rural Development Agency said they were expecting big crowds on Friday and Saturday.

"From its humble beginnings, the Llangollen Food Festival has grown to be one of the largest of its type anywhere in Wales," she said.

"The pavilion will be full to bursting point with all that is good in Welsh cuisine over the two days, attracting a huge audience."

Atmosphere

Wannabe chefs will also have the chance to brush up on their cooking skills with a demonstration from championship-winning chef Dai Davies.

He will be joined by Gareth Jones, head chef at the Wynstay Hotel in Machynlleth, and seafood expert Dean Parry.

Ms Jones said there will be a fantastic atmosphere in the arena.

"The aroma in the pavilion over the two days of the festival is out of this world with such companies as the Welsh Beekeepers Association, North Wales Buffalo, Snowdonia Cheese and Uncle Peters Fudge Company among the 45 stalls in attendance.

"It is fair to say that this will be the most spectacular festival to date," she said.

Organisers have had positive feedback from the companies involved in the festival.

Ms Jones said they benefit from the exposure.

"It is a direct line to the general public who would otherwise be unaware of the tremendous culinary variety on offer locally.

"I think the thousands of visitors this event has generated over its five-year life is a testament to the quality of the foodstuffs," she said.

The two-day event has been supported by the Welsh Development Agency and local councils across north Wales.
