In Pictures: Festival begins
The 56th Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has begun with thousands of visitors attending the event.

Competitors from 47 different countries have travelled to the small market town to compete in the festival, which has been running since 1947.

Local traders and politicians have used the event to launch a eurozone which allows people to spend euros in the majority of Llangollen's bars, shops and restaurants.

Tuesday's opening day was especially for visiting children, there were no competitions but the youngsters were entertained with clowns and acrobats.
