The office complex will be on reclaimed industrial land
Plans have been approved for a 26m state-of-the-art office complex in Swansea which could provide up to 2,000 jobs.

Swansea-based developer Liberty Properties wants to start developing 12 acres of land at the city's Enterprise Park in the autumn.

This will be the most prestigious office development Swansea has ever seen

The riverside project, called Matrix Park, will provide a 190,000 square foot of hi-tech office accommodation.

The company has already created 1,200 jobs at Cable and Wireless in 1990 after developing an adjacent site.

The project comes as a boost to the area following the 435 job losses announced at clothing manufacturer Dewhirst in Swansea last month.

The west wales area has also been badly hit by the closure of the ITV Digital call centre at Pembroke Dock where more than 1000 jobs were lost.

Liberty Properties Managing Director Phillip Morris said: "This will, without doubt, be the most prestigious office development Swansea has ever seen.

Chester Business Park
Matrix Park is based on a development in Chester

"We want to turn this brownfield site into Swansea's most impressive office development, moving it on from its industrial past into a modern, riverside, state-of-the-art business complex."

The first part of the project will be a 35,000 square foot office unit, costing 7m.

Four further buildings will then be developed to create an office campus.

The company has developed sites in London, Manchester, Chester and Cardiff and Matrix Park will be based on its project on Chester Business Park.

Liberty said it was already in contact with a number of companies who were interested in re-locating to Swansea.
