Date of birth 10 June 1957 Political profile Lindsay Hoyle entered the Commons in 1997 just as his father, the long serving MP Doug (now Baron) Hoyle, left it. He quickly established himself as a backbencher by tabling Early Day Motions, while also being an effective member of the Trade and Industry select committee. He is generally a loyal Blairite, a critic of insensitive redundancies, and has called for a further tax to be levied on the profits of oil companies. He is an advocate of animal rights - he called for a memorial to animals who have served in war - and is a keen follower of sporting issues. Contact Constituency office 01257 271555 |
