All eyes may have been on Gordon Brown - but who was that MP sitting just behind him during his Budget speech?

He was obviously a man of taste and discernment.

And he was clearly one of the better informed of Labour backbenchers.

How can this be deduced? From the simple fact that he was happily reading a print out of BBC News Online's Budget special.

He later confessed, declaring: "You must be very eagle eyed to spot that."

And to the question, "why" he gave the only appropriate answer.

"Because we use it as briefing material - it's absolutely wonderful."

The man in question was Gravesham's Chris Pond. Clearly one to watch.
