Naked model pub divides residents
Tanya Robinson outside
Miss Robinson's name is outside the 100-year-old pub
A row is brewing after a pub in an historic market town changed its name and sign to pay tribute to a beauty contest winner.

Residents of Richmond in North Yorkshire were shocked when the naked picture of FHM "High Street Honeys" winner, Tanya Robinson, appeared above the 100-year-old watering hole.

Managers at The Fleece on Victoria Road changed the name to The Tanya's Charms in tribute to the achievement of Miss Robinson, 21, who is a regular at the pub.

But mayor, Stuart Parsons, said the move had divided opinion among people in the town - whose MP is former Tory party leader William Hague.

Pub manager Sam Collett says it is a 'fantastic idea'

He said: "I can understand why some people are shaken by it.

"It is a difficult one because it is not quite what I would expect in a heritage and conservation area."

He said opinion was currently divided "about 50-50" over whether it was right to put up the sign.

The sign shows Miss Robinson, of Richmond, in a naked pose with her back to the camera taken from the cover of the current edition of FHM.

She said: "It was a huge compliment. I thought they were just going to change the name of the pub but then when I pulled up in a car with my dad I said, 'Oh my God, there's my bottom' and he said 'There's more than just your bottom'."

Pub manager Sam Collett said: "The regular customers think it is a fantastic idea although some of the people I have been speaking to were not too happy about it."
