Toilets win award with chamber music
Clevedon toilets
The toilets were awarded five stars by an inspector
Seaside public conveniences where the attendant provides piped music, flowers, perfume and handcream have been judged the best in the South West.

The Chalet toilets on the front at Clevedon, near Bristol, have been given the top rating following an unannounced visit from an inspector from the national Loo of the Year awards.

The attendant, Sheila Youles, has also been named best in the region.

Mrs Youles was presented with her awards by the chairman of North Somerset Council, councillor Howard Roberts, at a town hall ceremony on Friday.

Sheila Youles: "People say it's like home."

Mrs Joules said: "The secret is keeping them clean and treating them like your own home."

Other features in her prize-winning gents and ladies toilets include pop posters and a visitors book.

Several other public toilets in North Somerset were recognised in the awards which are run in association with the British Toilet Association.

Mr Roberts said: "Loos are often the butt of jokes.

"But they are a serious matter. The older you are the more you need them.

"I am very proud that we have won these awards."
