| | Friday, 10 January, 2003, 19:45 GMT 'I'm on top of the world' Andrew Cooney, a 23-year-old Scout leader from Nottinghamshire, has returned home after becoming the youngest person to walk to the South Pole. Here BBC News Online reveals the first footage and pictures of the intrepid trekker as he reached the South Pole.  Cooney had to carry a 200 pound sled on the trek and was hampered by an injured shoulder  The 23-year-old Scout leader celebrates after becoming the youngest person to walk to the South Pole  The UK is one of many nations which are represented at the South Pole  Andrew Cooney said he was delighted at his achievement and looking forward to a hot bath  A host of media were at Heathrow Airport to greet Andrew Cooney as he arrived back from the South Pole  ... and among others waiting were his Territorial Army colleagues from Lincolnshire | |
