Nine in drug ring sentenced
Redfern and Bladen
David Redfern and Nicola Bladen have been jailed
Three police officers and six other defendants have been sentenced for their involvement in a drug ring in Derbyshire.

The nine were all sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on Friday.

The three police officers David Redfern, Mark Jennison and Heather Bossart had all served with the elite National Crime Squad.

All nine were caught after a hidden camera was set up in the home Redfern shared with his mistress Nicola Bladen in Findern, Derbyshire.

Redfern, 42, of Dale End Road, Hilton, Derbyshire, was jailed for three years and nine months.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to charges of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, offering to supply cocaine, two counts of possessing cocaine and perverting the course of justice.

Jennison, 41, also of Derbyshire police, was handed a 12-month prison term after being convicted of two counts of possession of cocaine and one count of supplying cocaine.

Bossart, 40, of Nottinghamshire police, who admitted snorting cocaine was sentenced to 100 hours community service.

Serving prisoner

Jennison and Bossart both gave addresses to the court as St Mary's Wharf police station, Derby.

Bladen, 36, of Dale End Road, Hilton, Derbyshire was jailed for two years after admitting five charges of supplying cocaine, one count of possessing cocaine, two counts of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and a charge of possessing ecstasy.

Mark Hancock, 37, of Meynell Street, Derby, was given two years in jail after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine, offering to supply cannabis and supplying ecstasy.

David Jones, 38, a serving prisoner at HMP Ashwell, in Leicestershire, admitted a charge of possessing cocaine and was jailed for one day.

Morning raids

Michael Edward Hackett, 27, of Chapel Street, Kilburn, Derbyshire, pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis and was jailed for nine months.

Martin Raynor, 46, of Havenbaulk Lane, Littleover, Derby, was handed a 90-hour community punishment order after he pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis and to possessing ecstasy.

Debra Boddey, 33, of Meynell Street, Derby was given an 80-hour community punishment order and a two-year community supervision order after she pleaded guilty to supplying ecstasy.

The defendants were arrested in a series of early morning raids at their homes in April 2001.
