Travellers evicted from picnic site
Travellers and police
The travellers are in breach of a possession order
A group of travellers have been evicted from a Gloucestershire beauty spot.

The travellers were moved on from Coaley Peak near Dursley by police and bailiffs.

Action was prompted in December when the travellers, who had been at the site for two years, breached a possession order.

Patrick Jameson, the bailiff manager for Gloucester, told the BBC: "The council will now come along and clear the land.

"They should make the site safe to stop people getting back on."

The travellers say they have been asking for a suitable site for years but have been told there is not one available.

Gloucestershire County Council says it has looked for appropriate land and its duty in this case is to provide housing - which the travellers do not want.

According to the council, the travellers were camping illegally at the picnic site, and were first asked to leave in July.
