A man found stabbed to death in a Birmingham street has been named by police.

Lee Jason Tongue was discovered collapsed in Vardon Way, Kings Norton, shortly after 0300 GMT on Wednesday.

Attempts were made to revive the 33-year-old, who came from Kings Norton, but he died at the scene.

A post mortem revealed he died from a stab wound to the chest.

Chief Superintendent Ron Pearce, who is leading the investigation, said: "It appears that the victim had been out celebrating the New Year when he was involved in some sort of altercation in the street at the spot where he died."
