| Friday, 20 December, 2002, 13:17 GMT Care home closes after inquiry ![]() New homes have been found for all 13 residents A Birmingham care home at the centre of a police inquiry has closed. New homes have been found for all of the 13 residents living at Kineton House, in Kings Heath, Birmingham. The owner volunteered to close the home following allegations that one elderly diabetic woman had to be rushed to hospital after she was given the wrong medication. Further allegations of poor care procedures at the home have been identified by the National Care Standards Commission. Difficult decision A spokesman from the commission said the owner of the home tried to find a suitably qualified manager to take over but was unsuccessful. He said: "Social service managers have kept the home safe in the meantime and arranged health care reviews so that when people are moved, their care plans will be up to date. "The owner took the difficult decision to close the home. "An adult protection investigation has been instigated by social services, the police and we are involved in the investigations." Suzannah McCorry, the cabinet member for Birmingham City Council's social services, said new homes had been found for all 13 residents. | See also: 16 Dec 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
