Emma Bossons work is extremely popular

A pottery company in Stoke-on-Trent is putting much of its international success down to a young pottery designer from Biddulph.

Emma Bossons' work for Moorcroft Pottery in Burslem is selling for more than �11,000 to collectors all over the world.

The 26-year-old has created 57 designs in the last three years and experts say they will stand the test of time and grow in value.

The late Walter Moorcroft, who took over the family pottery firm in 1945, produced only 19 designs in his lifetime.

'Shut away'

Ms Bossons, who began work at the pottery at the age of 16, says she cannot explain where her inspiration comes from.

She told BBC Radio Stoke: "I do literally just shut myself away and just draw.

"I have a different frame of mind each time but they all tie together.

"A lot of collectors say they know which pieces are mine straight away. It is very flattering."

Antique expert David Batty said Moorcroft is currently producing some top-class pottery.

'Phenomenal contribution'

He said: "Emma's work is riveting. She has really captured the spirit of the age which is almost what one wants for an object which will stand the test of time."

Moorcroft Pottery, which employs 246 people, is delighted with Ms Bossons success.

The company's product manager Keith Dawson said: "Emma's contribution has been phenomenal in the last two years.

"So much so, most of the designs in this year's catalogue are down to her."

But Ms Bossons says her main priority is ensuring the factory workers have jobs.

She said: "I work for people on the factory floor and if they are happy then I am happy.

"If I make jobs for other people then I think that's what it is all about."
