| | Friday, 22 November, 2002, 18:41 GMT In pictures: West Bromwich factory fire A major fire at a disused factory in the West Midlands caused traffic problems and threatened to spread to a petrol station before army firefighters gained control.  Traffic quickly built up on approaches to the West Bromwich area with smoke visible from miles away  The police sealed off streets surrounding the fire including the Black Country Spine Road  One Green Goddess had to stop pumping water when its engine overheated  Army personnel managed to get close into the fire as they struggled to bring it under control  The fire was kept away from a petrol station just yards from the burning factory  But nothing could be done to save the buildings on the industrial estate | |
