Dead firefighter gets full honours
Bob Miller
Bob Miller leaves a wife and two teenage children
A firefighter killed while on duty in Leicester is to be given full brigade honours.

There will be a service for father-of-two Bob Miller, 44, at Leicester Cathedral on Tuesday at 1030 GMT followed by a private funeral.

Mr Miller died on 31 October after falling through a floor while searching in an empty factory in Morledge Street in Leicester which was on fire.

His son Scott has thanked people who have left scores of condolence messages on the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service's website.

Memorial fund

Scott Miller wrote on the website: "I would like to thank all the people who have sent messages from all over the world.

"I was touched by every single word in every message.

"The fire brigade have been more than helpful.

"I visited the station at which my dad served at Hastings Road, and seeing all of his watch who were back on duty was like seeing 12 brothers in one room."

A memorial fund has also been set up for Mr Miller.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "He will be awarded full brigade honours and the coffin will be carried on a turntable ladder."

Mr Miller was the first firefighter to die on duty in Leicestershire in 25 years.
